A group of ten sentenced of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced charges of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to making defamatory statements about the pair's significant age difference.

The court delivered suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has not yet been published.

A persistent unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the first lady's identity.

Their complaint alleges that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has often echoed these claims on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she was a teacher at his lycée.

The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
